Pediatric Occupational Therapy

The therapeutic relationship between an occupational therapist (OT) and a child is crucial for successful treatment outcomes. We recognize that the effectiveness of our interventions hinges on establishing a trusting, supportive, and collaborative bond with each child. Therefore, we evaluate not only the childs physical, cognitive, and social skills but also the dynamics of the therapist-child relationship.

Adult / Senior Occupational Therapy

Recovering from an illness or injury can be challenging for seniors, especially when it comes to performing everyday activities. This can include bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as eating, toileting, and home management. When seniors are unable to do these things, it can lead to feelings of frustration, overwhelm, and embarrassment. They may be less likely to socialize or participate in activities they enjoy, which can contribute to depression and loneliness.

Fall Prevention Occupational Therapy

Falls are the leading cause of injury in adults aged 65 years or older and a serious fall can result in decreased functional independence and quality of life (Jin, 2018). In 2015 an estimated fifty-billion dollars was spent on the medical treatment of fatal and non-fatal falls and ninety-nine percent of the cost was from non-fatal falls (Pahor, 2019). Falls affect individuals both mentally and physically. The fear of falling can be as debilitating as the physical fall.

Specialty Services

School Transitioning Consultations

Occupational therapists play a crucial role in easing school transitions for children. They focus on developing essential skills like fine motor control, sensory processing, self-regulation, and social interaction. OTs may provide adaptive tools, create structured routines, and offer strategies to manage the classroom environment. They collaborate closely with teachers and parents to understand the child unique needs and foster a supportive learning experience. This holistic approach by OTs aims to make school transitions less stressful, enabling children to participate fully in all aspects of school life and reach their full potential.
